I'm a second-year Architecture master's student currently studying at Falmouth University Cornwall.
At 33 along with my family, I made the big decision to retrain. My journey has been a winding one but my experiences have shaped who I am and provided me with many skills that have been indispensable in completing my degree.
Running my own business taught me meticulous attention to detail, good design, the ability to multitask, self motivate, and a strong work ethic. From there moving into the building industry gave me knowledge of processes', materials, timescales, and H.R.
Combining these skills fitted perfectly with the course at Falmouth as it has been strongly centered around design through making. My time at University also introduced me to sustainable design, new materials, and pushing the boundaries of both. It's broadened my design horizons, refined my skills as a designer and strengthened my beliefs on reducing impact on the planet through design.
These are the foundations I will take forward and build from following graduation....
